ANOTHER STRATEGIC WAY TO ENSURE WINNING TRADES
Workshop January 14th, 2009
It is common to hear the phrase ‘Buy Low Sell High’ in the stockmarkets. This may give an indication especially to newbies in the stockmarket that this is all that is needed to make money from the stockmarket - just find a stock that is currently trading at a low price, buy it and wait for the price to rise so that you can profit from it when the stock price rises to the level of your choice! Experienced traders will tell you that this phrase alone is definitely not sufficient to consistently win in the markets as there are some stocks that are low may take a long time to rise - even worse, some stocks do not rise and may even go lower!
To consistently win in trading the markets one needs to remember that the stockmarket does not present opportunities for winning everyday. Markets can be volatile and unpredictable as those who have traded in 2008 can bear witness to that fact. There is a dire need to have a disciplined patience and a knowledgeable approach to trading to have a high probability of winning. Although the market does not present good trading opportunities every other day, there are periods when the market does present such good opportunities to win. When such period arises, are you ready to seize upon that opportunity and make the extra money you seek? Remember picking the right stock is not like taking a dart, throwing it and buy whatever stock the dart landed on. You really need to follow a proven selection process. Such a process will certainly eliminate emotional responses that traders in the stock markets experience and is also a way to manage money and control risk in trading the markets.
The trading strategy to ensure winning trades that this article suggests is based on a disciplined approach that is taught to all participants of the ‘Investsmart 4-Day Stocks & Options Trading Workshop’. Participants are taught a ‘Top-Down Approach’ to trading the markets. Top-Down Approach requires a trader to understand how to interpret macro-economic signals and shortlist stocks using fundamental and technical analyses. Following that, the participants subscribe to ‘Roland ’s Pre-Market Weekly Shortlist’. The shortlist provided by Roland is based on a thorough research using past fundamental and technical data. For the trader it acts as a double confirmation of what to expect in the coming week, subject of course to systematic risk should it ever occur. Systematic risk is risk caused by an event or announcement that is beyond the control of trader, for example, an interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve or oil price increase because of a hurricane threatening the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
Based on a study of Roland’s shortlist from the period August 3, 2008 to January 12, 2009, there were 76 shortlisted stocks provided via the subscription. Out of that 76 stocks, the knowledgeable subscriber had the opportunity to make gains from 66 of the stocks, sometimes using Call options and sometimes using Put options. This meant that there is an 87% chance of the shortlists being Correct! Subscribers who know how to utilise Roland’s Shortlist therefore has an 87% probability of making money within a one week time frame.
To provide the reader an idea of what stocks were given in Roland’s Shortlist over the mentioned period and the results therein, herewith is an extract of some trades from the shortlist (showing potential gain or loss within a 5-day time frame) :-
